Welcome to the

Golden Gate Bridge
Bicycle Safety Virtual Open House

In 2020 the Bridge District conducted a study of bicycle safety issues on the Bridge sidewalks. The goal of this study was to identify ways to reduce accidents on the Bridge sidewalks, specifically: bicycles with pedestrians, bicycles with bicycles, and solo bicycle accidents. The focus of this study is exclusively on the east and west sidewalks between the north and south entry gates, and does not include other sections of road or pathway approaching the Bridge.

In the pages that follow, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Review the information of the safety study, including current rules of operation, bicycle and pedestrian user counts, bicycle collision history, and bicycle speeds

The Virtual Open House was open for feedback from Friday, September 24, 2021, through Sunday, October 10, 2021.  You may review project information but we are not collecting further feedback through this site. Additional comments may be submitted in writing to the Board of Directors by email to [email protected]. Written comments must be received no later than Monday, October 18, 2021, at 4:30 p.m.
